work

For the past three years I've been working at gardyneHOLT where I've been immersed deeply in the world of PHP under the expert tuteledge of Mike Cochrane, and have got to the point where I can consider myself one of the core team maintaining the Jojo Content Management System.

Of the many many sites I've built (or helped build) at gH my current favourites are Graham Reid's vast and endlessly entertaining music, arts and travel writings at elsewhere.co.nz and fully customised luxury travel organisers ahipara.com. Huka Lodge and Architecture+ are pretty cool too, more swish looking, but I think sacrifice a bit of usability for the sake of style (i'm sure they're not necessarily incompatible - maybe for version 2).

Now I'm out on my own I .. build websites.

Some for friends and family - like eight.zero.co.nz for my Dad's stories about his life and travels in New Zealand and abroad and, slowly, what will eventually be a site worthy of the stunning floristry talents and quirky humour of Kae Flowers.

Some as a sub-contractor for other studios like Creative PracticeSay Communications and Fiona Larsen Dermatologist for Optimum.

Other works-in-progress: a re-working of the now ancient (and mildly embarrassing) Morris Talent code into a Jojo plugin will eventually turn into a cool site for Auckland talent agency Frostbite Talent; my old boss at Montana has turned his love of music into an amazing charitable trust for bringing music teaching to low-decile schools, with incredible results through the Tironui Music Trust.

And almost there, a site for our friend Hazel previously of Dishy who has a new business in retro-50's hostess aprons and fabric bunting - Ideal Brand.
